restored for healing.
The Center for Mind Body Balance is housed in one of Bergen County's most historically significant buildings — a Federal Period church built in 1820, now home to a community dedicated to wellness, growth, and connection.
From congregation
to community sanctuary
96 East Allendale Road has stood at the heart of Saddle River for over 200 years. Built in 1820–21 as the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, it is the oldest surviving church building in Bergen County and one of the only remaining Federal Period church structures in New Jersey.
The church served the Saddle River community through the 19th century, with the adjacent Parish House added in 1930 as an expansion of the 1886 Ladies Social Union Hall — a gathering place for women and families in the borough.
The property sits within the Saddle River Center Historic District, surrounded by properties that reflect the borough's 19th century rural character. In 2016, the Center for Mind Body Balance opened its doors — bringing the building back to its roots as a place of gathering, care, and community.
A heritage home
full of warmth and character
The building retains the architectural character of its Federal Period origins — high ceilings, generous natural light, and the quiet presence of a structure built to last. Visitors consistently describe the atmosphere as serene and welcoming from the moment they walk through the door.
At approximately 2,400 square feet, the center includes dedicated treatment rooms, a fully equipped yoga studio, group session and workshop spaces, and outdoor areas connecting to the natural surroundings.
Located directly across from Wandell Elementary School and next door to the Saddle River Municipal Building, the center is easily accessible from Route 17 and the Garden State Parkway, drawing clients from Bergen and Passaic counties and Rockland County, NY.
The building sits within the Saddle River Center Historic District — making it a rare find: a place of genuine history repurposed for genuine healing.
Where healing happens
Preserved 19th-century character, restorative interior. The building, our spaces, the work.
"The studio is in a beautifully renovated church building — the owner has created such a welcoming center to promote and celebrate every person's unique healthy body and mind."— Client review

(201) 708-8448 — ask for Melanie.
Founded in 2016, the Center for Mind Body Balance was built on a single belief: that true healing happens when the whole person is seen — not just the presenting problem. We are a community of licensed therapists, yoga teachers, somatic practitioners, and wellness guides who work together, not in isolation.
Our setting matters, too. We practice inside a beautifully restored 1820 building in Saddle River, NJ — a space that feels intentional, unhurried, and genuinely different from a clinical waiting room. The offerings here — psychotherapy, acupuncture, somatic yoga, sound healing, reiki, Ayurveda, breathwork, forest bathing, meditation, Pilates, and more — are woven together so your path can be as layered as your life.
It's simply a chance to talk. You share a bit of what's going on, and we listen — no intake forms, no clinical framing, no expectation that you have the words perfectly prepared. Most people tell us they leave the call feeling lighter than when they picked up the phone.
If we seem like a good fit, we'll help you find the right practitioner or program and answer any remaining questions. There is no commitment and no pressure — the call is yours, however you want to use it.
We are a private-pay practice — which means we don't bill insurance directly, and your care is never shaped by session limits, coverage restrictions, or diagnosis codes that follow you. Your treatment decisions stay exactly where they belong: between you and your practitioner.
This also gives us something insurance-based practices rarely can: genuine privacy. No third-party access to your records. No prior authorizations. Just care designed around you. Our fees are structured to be accessible, and we're glad to walk through pricing openly during your free call.
Yes — and many of our clients actually prefer it. We offer secure, HIPAA-compliant video sessions for therapy, coaching, and several other modalities, so you can do meaningful work from your own home, office, or wherever you feel at ease.
A few practices — such as acupuncture, energy work, and somatic movement — are best experienced in person, and some modalities carry state-by-state licensing considerations. We'll walk through all of that with you during your free consultation so you always know exactly what to expect.
That's completely okay — and very common. You don't need to have it figured out before reaching out. We recommend starting with a simple consultation so we can understand what you're experiencing and guide you toward the most supportive practices.
Call us at (201) 708-8448 and have a conversation with Melanie, our founder. She'll listen to what you're going through and help identify a recommended starting point that feels right for you.
None whatsoever. Whether you've never sat in a meditation circle or haven't done yoga since a class in 2009, you belong here. Our practitioners meet you exactly where you are — we won't rush you, make assumptions about your background, or let you feel behind.
Every service at the Center is offered with individualized guidance built in. You set the pace. We follow your lead.
Traditional therapy often focuses on thoughts and behaviors — and it has real value. A holistic approach goes further by recognizing that the body holds experience too. Stress lives in the shoulders. Grief sits in the chest. Anxiety loops through the nervous system long after the mind understands why. Addressing only one layer tends to leave the others untouched.
Here, your care may draw from psychotherapy, somatic movement, breathwork, energy practices, or other modalities — not randomly, but as a coherent, integrated path shaped around your specific history, needs, and goals. The aim isn't to give you more to manage. It's to help all of the parts of you begin moving in the same direction.
Still have a question
we didn't answer?
Reach out directly — a real person answers every call. We're here to help you find your footing, not just fill out a form.
Ready to take
the first step?
Reaching out is an act of courage. We're here whenever you're ready — no pressure, no judgment, just a compassionate space to begin.
Our free 15-minute discovery call is a no-pressure conversation. We'll listen, ask a few questions, and help match you with the right practitioner or program — at your own pace.
